On Friday 5th November - Alma, a venture under establishment by Clara Venture Labs, entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Aker BP ASA (“Aker BP”) and Eidesvik Offshore AS (”Eidesvik”) to explore opportunities for utilising Alma’s proprietary fuel cell technology to accelerate the move to zero emissions shipping.

Alma is a venture in process of being launched and established as a separate venture under Clara Venture Labs. The company provides clean power technology to the maritime, offshore and landbased sectors. Alma’s technologies are based on high temperature fuel cells, enabling zero emissions with high efficiency and fuel flexibility.
Aker BP, Eidesvik and Alma believe that industry wide collaboration between energy companies, technology providers and vessel operators and owners is essential to accelerate the implementation of clean fuel engine technologies. Aker BP, Eidesvik and Alma share the ambition of significant emission reductions from the fleet operating on the Norwegian Continental Shelf, and aim to be frontrunners in adopting new technologies to provide a quicker path to achieve this goal. This MoU is a first step in working together towards achieving this goal.
Specifically, the companies will explore retrofit installation of Alma’s fuel cell technology on the PSV vessels NS Frayja and Viking Lady with the option to include further vessels in the scope of the project as well.
